When I was a kid I remember being poor. I didn't know we were poor because like most little kids who come from a poor background, it was what I knew. Growing up that way with an older brother and sister meant I was outside playing all summer long, the only time that I came in was lunch time and supper time. Our dad built us a large tree house/guard tower in the back yard and I remember climbing up the rickety ladder to try to "shoot" my brother with a hand hewn gun my dad had made him for a school project. It was good times, and it was during those times that my imagination grew. Cartoons like He-Man and Transformers, Thundercats and even Mr. Rogers all played a part. I can remember watching the first part of A New Hope in the living floor with my brother, I got as far as Luke getting the lightsaber and had to go to bed. It was probably two years later before I saw the rest of that movie. I know I know you're reading this thinking "Get on with it guy, what does this have to with Dungeons and Dragons?" The short answer is everything.
A little over a year ago my wife and our friend all started playing Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. My wife and myself both played when were younger, and our friend had briefly played with another group of people. I had a story line bouncing around my head and I began to put ideas to paper a couple months before we started playing, it wasn't much honestly in the beginning stages it was just a basic story arc in a made up region I fully intended to put inside the area around the Sword Coast. Now a little over a year later and a few campaigns in and our intrepid group is stuck in a version of the 1980s trying to stop the more idiotic than evil Zhivoy from trying to unleash doom and from stealing the treasure of Theria. It has been a long road fraught with peril and persistence, might and magic, and the willpower of the rag tag group of heroic adventurers we have brought to life.In this blog I hope to discuss all kinds if things related to Dungeons and Dragons, life, fantasy, and whatever else may come my way. I would also like on occasion to allow guest posts from my party and eventually from any other poor soul who would want to post.
